The Book of Enoch describes the fall of the Watchers, the angels who fathered the Nephilim. The fallen angels went to Enoch to intercede on their behalf with God after he declared to them their doom. The remainder of the book describes Enoch’s visit to Heaven in the form of a vision, and his revelations. The book consists of five quite distinct major sections: * The Book of the Watchers (1 Enoch 1 36) * The Book of Parables of Enoch (1 Enoch 37 71) (Also called the Similitudes of Enoch) * The Astronomical Book (1 Enoch 72 82) (Also called the Book of the Heavenly Luminaries or Book of Luminaries.) * The Book of Dream Visions (1 Enoch 83 90) (Also called the Book of Dreams) * The Epistle of Enoch (1 Enoch 91 108) The shared view is that these five sections were originally independent works (with different dates of composition), themselves a product of much editorial arrangement, and were only later redacted into what we now call 1 Enoch. This view is now opposed only by a few authors who maintain the literary integrity of the Book of Enoch, one of the most recent (1990) being the Ethiopian Wossenie Yifru. Józef Milik has suggested that the Book of Giants found amongst the Dead Sea Scrolls should be part of the collection, appearing after the Book of Watchers in place of the Book of Parables, but for various reasons Milik’s theory has not been widely accepted. The Book of the Watchers This first section of the Book of Enoch describes the fall of the Watchers, the angels who fathered the Nephilim (cf. the bene Elohim, Genesis 6:1-2) and narrates the travels of Enoch in the heavens. This section is said to have been composed in the fourth/third 3rd century BC according to Western scholars. Content of the Book of the Watchers IV. Parable of Enoch on the Future Lot of the Wicked and the Righteous. VI-XI. The Fall of the Angels: the Demoralization of Mankind: the Intercession of the Angels on behalf of Mankind. The Dooms pronounced by God on the Angels of the Messianic Kingdom. XII-XVI. The First Journey. * XX. Names and Functions of the Seven Archangels. * XXI. Preliminary and final Place of Punishment of the fallen Angels (stars). * XXII. Sheol or the Underworld. * XXIII. if the Book of Enoch was in the Bible. Islam’s rejection of Jesus would be screwed. Because Enoch saw Jesus on the throne. or they will just conveniently reject Enoch so they don’t have to explain the Jesus part.
This is the actual ending of the book. 106-108 is basically an appendix. So we have the answers at the beginning as well as the end–not to mention some other statements scattered throughout. No, they WILL have to answer for their continual rejection of this book, because it is the Church that CONTINUES to SUPPRESS this book. Their fathers “Killed” the prophets, and they build them their tombs. In other words, parabolically speaking, they are the spiritual children of the Scribes and Pharisees.
and then shall all the righteous who have learnt therefrom all the paths of uprightness be recompensed.
Chapter 105
1 In those days the Lord bade (them) to summon and testify to the children of earth concerning their wisdom: Show (it) unto them; for ye are their guides, and a recompense over the whole earth.
2 For I and My son will be united with them for ever in the paths of uprightness in their lives; and ye shall have peace: rejoice, ye children of uprightness. Amen.
But when they write down truthfully all my words in their languages, and do not change or minish ought from my words but write them all down truthfully -all that I first testified concerning them. Then, I know another mystery, that books will be given to the righteous and the wise to become a cause of joy and uprightness and much wisdom. And to them shall the books be given, and they shall believe in them and rejoice over them,
It was silenced in order to keep it secret until the day of tribulation (En 1:1) and for a generation which is “…for to come. (En 1:2)
Also, in 104:10 -105, we are assured that we will be given this book, as well as others back again.
“And now I know this mystery, that sinners will alter and pervert the words of righteousness in many ways, and will speak wicked words, and lie, and practice great deceits, and write books concerning their words….
video editing went a bit wonky… the beginning portion of part 8 is a repeat.
Josephus was a famous Jewish Historian who lived at the same time as Jesus.
Who was Josephus?
