Gnostic Gospels – Christ Files preview

This scene, from the forthcoming Christ Files documentary, takes us to Cairo to view the Gnostic Gospels of Philip, part of the famous Nag Hammadi collection. Jesus’ marriage to Mary Magdalene is discussed, as is the Gnostic view that women who wish to enter the kingdom of God must first become males.

My point is that the Gnostic Gospels are no more disputable as a part of the canon than the Synoptic Gospels.

  2. stormdragon1980 says:

Right. What was your point? Some could argue that no one has ever met Jesus, given that argument; no one who ever met him wrote about him, that we know of?

  3. JimmyeDallas says:

You do realize that the Gospels weren’t actually written by the Apostles, right? The first Christian texts were written by the Apostle Paul somewhere around 60AD, and only mentions that he met Jesus in a spiritual encounter. No one who wrote the New Testament ever met Jesus.

Well that makes sense, the Mormons do have a lot more claim to authenticity when you put it that way. Joseph Smith was just another part of the continuing saga.

People dont understand either the bible or the gnostic gospels

  6. verdegumby says:

Not so as they cant first of all prove where Jesus kissed Mary.I believe it was on the cheek as friendship as I discovered from other research

  7. verdegumby says:

I have read most of the gnostic gospels and there are similarities. The problem is that people dont understand either the bible we have or the gnostic gospels

  8. verdegumby says:

Did you know that our bible today is still not finished as stated in Acts, to be continued

    Read the Super Gospel!

Dozens of ancient gospels rolled into one!

“This is the text, the only one, from which people extracted the idea that Jesus married Mary Magdalane, and had children with her.”

As I grow and learn, it’s fascinating to see the same argument used time and time again by the Church, or various people, seeming to try to discredit something with evidence that works against… its own points, just as well or better.

This was written 150 years late? We should already know not to trust anything written about Jesus, after his death.

The Gnostic Gospels weren’t written until 175AD or 200AD, well after Christ died and all the eyewitnesses were dead. That makes them unreliable, but we also know the Secret Gospel of Mark was a hoax, and that some of the gospels had formats similar to gnostic gospels of the times, which ironically, Paul warned about in the Bible.

  12. Brummy010 says:

The gnostic Gospels of Thomas and Phillip was done after Apostle Paul and Jesus.

I am amazed at how many few Christians investigate the Gnostic Gospels.
